What color will the steel grating be after galvanizing

Nov. 13, 2024

The color of the steel grating after galvanizing is usually silvery white. Because zinc is silvery white, of course some will be painted and become blue, etc. The purpose of galvanizing is to make the surface of the steel grating smooth and prevent rust.

Some steel gratings rust after galvanizing, which depends on the raw materials used. If it is iron, it may be the principle of absorbing anodes to protect cathodes in anti-corrosion.

Some steel gratings need to undergo a post-galvanizing passivation process to improve their corrosion resistance after galvanizing. When the steel grating is just galvanized, it is yellow or light yellow, and then it will become silvery white (the color of zinc) after a nitric acid film removal process. After the film removal, it is the passivation process. After the passivation process, different colors such as blue-white, colorful, black and even yellow may be produced (the specific color is made according to customer requirements). The authenticity of the galvanized steel grating is mainly determined by the thickness of the galvanized film. The film thickness of the general hot-dip galvanized steel grating is required to reach more than 70чm, while the ordinary cold-dip galvanized steel grating is good enough if it can reach 10чm.
