Technical requirements for filling of gabion mesh

Aug. 19, 2024

During the installation and application process, the gabion mesh is a protective structure formed together with the stones filled in it. In actual use, the stones filled in it also play a vital role, so the choice of stones has a huge impact on whether the gabion mesh can maximize its protective effect.

So what requirements should the stone filling of the gabion mesh meet? The technical experts of Yinghangyuan answer your questions.

1. The stone size should be between 75mm and 150mm;

2. When using larger stones for filling, at least two layers of stones should be filled according to the height of the Reno pad.

3. Pebbles or blocks that meet the size requirements can be used for filling. The filling stones must be hard and not easy to weather and hydrolyze;

4. The filling is carried out from the bottom of the slope to the top of the slope. Mechanical filling can be used, but it must be placed manually to ensure that the void ratio of the stone is not more than 35%;

5. The stone filling must be full and reach the designed thickness. Pay special attention to the filling of the four corners of each box and the upper and lower ends of the partition on the slope;

6. The surface needs to be leveled manually, with the relatively flat side of the stone facing up, ensuring that every small box and the entire slope are on the same plane after filling, without protrusions and depressions;

7. Considering the problem of stone settlement, the filling stone should have an extra height of 15 to 25 mm.
