How do gabion mesh manufacturers ensure that the product will not rust for a long time?

Apr. 21, 2023

Gabion net manufacturers are many things used in water conservancy projects. Many friends who don’t know the situation will ask, will this thing rust after being in the water for a long time? How do gabion net manufacturers deal with rust? How many years can this thing be guaranteed? No rust? Today we take these questions and read the following content to solve this mystery.

There are many kinds of raw materials for gabion mesh manufacturers. The raw materials commonly used in hydraulic engineering include hot-dip galvanized high-zinc wire, zinc-aluminum alloy wire (ie golf wire), PVC/PE winding plastic wire. Whether the gabion mesh manufacturer will rust during use and the time it will not rust largely depend on the type of raw material.

Hot-dip galvanized steel wire is a galvanized steel wire with a zinc content of 240g/. As we all know, the loss of zinc in the general natural environment is 8-10 grams per year. Generally speaking, the requirement of hot-dip galvanizing for gabion mesh manufacturers is more than 240 grams per square meter. In addition, zinc oxide can form a protective film on the surface to prevent further oxidation. No rust is not a problem after 20 years of use.

Aluminum-zinc alloy steel wire is another raw material. The coating contains 5% aluminum and 95% zinc. The main advantage of the coating is better plasticity and adhesion. Therefore, the corrosion resistance before and after deformation does not change. The atmospheric corrosion resistance of the coating is much higher than that of conventional hot-dip galvanizing, and it has good coating performance, which can make the alloy coating better. The bond between coating and coating is stable for a long time.

Compared with galvanized products, galvanized products have stronger protective effect and better corrosion resistance.

The entire structure is composed of aluminium-iron-silicon-zinc, a fine quaternary crystal which forms a barrier on the steel plate, thus helping to prevent the penetration of corrosive elements. The corrosion resistance of gabion mesh comes from the protective function of the aluminum barrier layer and the special protective function of zinc. Aluminum forms an insoluble oxide layer when zinc is used for trimming, scratching and coating scratches.
